The light from a lamp must be enough for you but it should not get into your eyes. Direct light from a lamp can hurt your eyesight. If you need to buy a lamp, you must think about its purpose. It will make it easier for you to choose its shape, style and colour.

A.  In 1613, Mikhail Romanov started the Romanov dynasty that would rule Russia for many years. Later, his grandson Peter the Great became tsar in 1689. Under the rule of Tsar Peter the Great, the Russian empire continued to grow bigger. He started reforms and created a standing army. Russia became a strong power in Europe. Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg.

B.  Spring months in Germany are a bit chilly. However, the summer is generally warm and pleasant with mostly sunny skies. Autumn temperatures are lower with moderate rainfall. Nevertheless, it is a wonderful time to visit the country. The winter months are mostly mild in the west, while in the east conditions are much colder, and freezing temperatures are quite typical.

C.  Winters in Norway can be bitterly cold. So how to dress for outdoor activities depends on what you are doing and where you are doing it. If you are heading high up or far north, dress warmly and in layers. Use wool rather than cotton or polyester. Make sure you put on a warm jacket which can protect you from getting wet or frozen by the wind.

D.  Mount Kilimanjaro is located in Tanzania, a country on the east coast of Africa, and it stands over 19,000 feet above sea level. It is a volcanic mountain with three volcanic cones. Two of them are extinct volcanoes. The tallest cone is dormant, which means that the volcano could erupt again. However, the last eruption took place more than 150,000 years ago.

E.  Canadian geese migrate with the change of the weather. Each year Canadian geese fly south for the winter to avoid the winter freeze of lakes and ponds. Then they return to the north for the summer where they make nests and lay eggs. Geese are known for special organization when they fly. It helps them to save energy and allows them to fly up to 600 miles in a single day.
