The sixth planet was a planet ten times larger. It was inhabited by an old man who wrote enormous books.

"Ah! Here's an explorer!" he exclaimed when he saw the little prince. The little prince sat down at the table and took a little breath. He had already traveled so much!

"Where are you from?" said the old man.

"What is this big book?" asked the little prince. "What are you doing here?"

"I am a geographer," said the old man.

"What is a geographer?"

"He is a scholar who knows where the seas, rivers, cities, mountains, and deserts are located."

"That’s very interesting," said the little prince. "That’s finally a real profession!" And he glanced around at the geographer’s planet. He had never seen a planet so majestic.

"Your planet is very beautiful. Are there oceans?"

"I don’t know," said the geographer.

"Ah!" (The little prince was disappointed.) "And mountains?"

"I don’t know," said the geographer.

"And cities and rivers and deserts?"

"I don’t know either," said the geographer.

"But you’re a geographer!"

"That’s correct," said the geographer, "but I’m not an explorer. I absolutely lack explorers. It’s not the geographer’s job to count the cities, rivers, mountains, seas, oceans, and deserts."
