A.  Lapta is a Russian folk game that is played with a bat and a ball. The game has similarities to baseball and cricket, though it has been found that Lapta is much older than baseball. It is played on a big field, between two teams with six players on each team. The aim is to hit a ball with a bat as far as possible, then run across the field, and if possible come back.

B.  Vancouver is a big city on the Pacific Coast of Canada. It is a seaport city. The city is surrounded by mountains and water. It is famous for its amazing location. It has different weather conditions from the rest of the country. Vancouver is the third largest city in Canada after Toronto and Montreal. The population of the city is more than 630 000 people.

C.  If you go to Vancouver in May, be ready for rainy weather. It is cloudy much of the month. You won't need a winter coat and lots of warm sweaters. Take an umbrella and a raincoat. Pack a pair of shoes because it is too cool and wet in Vancouver in May for wearing sandals. Don't forget long-sleeved shirts, jeans and pants. You will need a light jacket to wear when it's not raining.

D.  Umbrellas first appeared in ancient Egypt over 3 thousand years ago. They were created to protect rich people from sunlight. The Chinese were the first to make leather umbrellas for rain protection. This invention was discovered in China in the 11th century BC. In the 16th century umbrellas became popular in the western world, especially in the rainy climates of northern Europe.

E.  Many students find learning interesting, but quite difficult. They have to read a lot of books on different subjects, such as History or Geography. They must learn many names and dates to pass the tests. They need to compare facts and express their opinion to get a good grade for their essay. It is good that there is a PE lesson when they can play sports and get some exercise.
